Edinburgh based duo
covering classics from the great American & British songbook with some folk and country thrown in
Ian Robertson, a singer / guitarist from Edinburgh Scotland, was performing solo gigs in local bars around Edinburgh with his blend of contemporary and traditional acoustic music when he met Australian born bass player Gordon 'Oz' Kingsford-Smith in the Grey Horse Balerno. Oz offered to give Ian some backing during his future gigs there, and so began a great musical and personal friendship back in 2009.
After a couple of years they decided to re-brand and Robertson's Court in Session was born, they changed their set lists adding some old classics, R&B & Country then began to raise their profile in and around Edinburgh.
2017 saw them being cited as one of the most versatile duos in Edinburgh and the Lothians playing everything from Folk to Classic 60's & 70's through Global Folk Rock, Country and Rockabilly favourites.
Robertson's Court have continued as a duo up until the present day, however in the summer of 2019 they played some gigs with a drummer as well as a lead guitarist on occasions. This has given them some flexibility for some of the venues looking for trios and bands.
Due to varying personal commitments they were not on the road as much at the tail end of 2019 but coming into 2020 has seen more regularity as well as some new gigs in Edinburgh, the Lothians and Fife.
Covid 19 virtually wiped out all gigs during 2020 - March 2022
